Below are the key reasons why I no longer accept health insurance benefits as payment…
1) Low reimbursement rates – roughly 50-60% of standard out-of-pocket rates
2) The hassle of dealing with insurance companies – payment is not guaranteed, and not every therapy service is covered
3) Insurance requires a diagnosis in order for therapy to be deemed “medically necessary” – therefore, insurance dictates your treatment plan
4) No confidentiality – contrary to popular belief, your health insurance company can request therapy records at any time.
